Greenwich village, once a
center for bohemians, Beatnicks and creative thinkers, has undergone
a change that has left it with a small army of girls all living out
their inner Carrie Bradshaw, with daily busses driving around girls
anxiously waiting to see the stoop that carrie once sat on, or get a
cupcake at magnolia bakery, the once charming, and cheap neighborhood
has rents that no artist can pay for. The small local shops have
been replaced by expensive designers. It has turned into a safe, and
”chic” neighborhood. Places like washington square park was once
filled with hippies and freethinkers is now mainly filled with
tourists taking pictures. It is still a small village, but only for
the rich or the visitors. The main attraction is no longer the places
where people could once go to be themselves, it is a place to get an
overpriced cupcake, and a lipstick pen that says MARC JACOBS.
Although the style in the neighborhood still varies (it is New York
after all) It is far from the bohemic style that is the main style,
unless you happen to spot a girl who bought her outfit at free
people, or urban outfitters. The soul of Jack Kerouc has left, and
been replaced by fictional writer Carrie Bradshaw.
